The vineyard saw a trend back toward normalcy in 2019 starting off with a wet and snowy winter, which provided ample water to fill our estate reservoir. Cooler temperatures throughout Spring pushed back bud break which fortunately saved us from the May rain event, as flowering had not yet occurred. Summer temperatures were average as was the constant breeze up on the mountain, allowing the vines to ripen slowly. This resulted in the grapes with not only concentrated flavors but vibrant natural acidity. The extreme elevation and its incessant wind kept the vineyard cool enough to allow ripening to continue without vine stress. Pre-fire, 2019 was a terrific harvest.
